Tinubu condoles Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi over Father’s death
President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep condolences to Super Eagles captain, Wilfred Ndidi, following the death of his father, Sunday Ndidi.
The Nigerian international footballer, who plays for Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas, lost his father in a fatal road accident that occurred on Tuesday at Umunede, near Agbor, Delta State.
In a condolence message issued on Wednesday through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the death as tragic and painful, particularly for the Super Eagles captain, who shared a close bond with his father.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic death of Sunday Ndidi. I share in the grief of his family, friends and associates, particularly Wilfred Ndidi, who shared a strong bond with his father as a mentor and guide in his remarkable career as an exceptional footballer,” Tinubu said.
The President noted that Sunday Ndidi’s modest background, discipline and honesty had a lasting influence on those who knew him and looked up to him for inspiration.
President Tinubu also prayed for God Almighty to comfort the Ndidi family and grant eternal rest to the soul of the departed.
