Tinubu elevates, decorates new Military Chiefs
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has decorated the newly appointed service chiefs with their new ranks in a ceremony held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, marking their formal assumption of duties in the Armed Forces.
Those decorated include General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, who was elevated from Lieutenant General to General and appointed Chief of Defence Staff, and Lieutenant General Emmanuel Undiendeye, who was promoted from Major General and now serves as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
Others are Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, promoted from Major General to Chief of Army Staff; Air Marshal Kevin Aneke, formerly an Air Vice Marshal, now Chief of Air Staff; and Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, who rose from Rear Admiral to become Chief of Naval Staff.
President Tinubu had announced the replacement of the service chiefs last Friday, a decision widely seen as part of his effort to strengthen and refocus Nigeria’s security architecture.
In a message shared on his verified X handle, Tinubu urged the newly appointed military leaders to deepen professionalism, vigilance, and unity within the Armed Forces while serving the nation with honour and dedication.
