Wike begins fresh round of projects with commissioning of Water Plant in FCT
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday flagged off another round of projects in Abuja, beginning with the commissioning of the rehabilitated Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant at Lower Usuma Dam, Ushafa, in Bwari Area Council.
This move comes barely six weeks after he wrapped up a 16-day series of project inaugurations across the FCT, which ended on July 3.
According to a schedule released by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media, the minister will on Wednesday launch the construction and expansion of water supply to satellite towns, starting with Bwari Township (Lot 1).
The exercise will continue on Thursday with the flag-off of water projects in Karu town and surrounding communities in Abuja Municipal Area Council (Lot 2).
It would be recalled that while commissioning the Greater Abuja Water Supply Project on June 16, Wike revealed that the FCT Administration had signed a new agreement during President Bola Tinubu’s 2023 visit to China.
The deal aims to expand water supply to satellite communities including Bwari, Kubwa, and Karu.
At the time, Wike assured that procurement processes for the projects were almost concluded and promised their timely completion.
