Benue Assembly suspends Four Lawmakers over alleged impeachment plot

The Benue State House of Assembly has suspended four members for three months over allegations that they spearheaded moves to impeach the Speaker, Hyacinth Dajoh.
Those affected by the decision, taken during Friday’s plenary, are the spokesman of the House, Alfred Berger (Makurdi North), Cyril Ekong (Oju II), Abu Umoru (Apa), and Shimawua Terna (Kyan).
In the wake of the suspension, the Assembly reshuffled its leadership. Kennedy Angbo was named the new Deputy Majority Leader, Douglas Akya became Deputy Chief Whip, while Elias Audu replaced Berger as the House spokesman.
Meanwhile, the Assembly also began screening commissioner nominees.
Five nominees appeared before the lawmakers, while two others, Ogwu Odeh and Imojime Tiza, are scheduled for screening at a later date.
