Prof. Amupitan, assumes office as new INEC Chairman
The newly appointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan (SAN), officially assumed duty at the commission’s headquarters at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
His arrival came shortly after he was sworn in by President Bola Tinubu at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Prof. Amupitan’s assumption of office marks the beginning of his tenure as he takes charge of steering the nation’s electoral body toward credible and transparent elections.
He is expected to hold his first meeting with the commission’s directors shortly.
