President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, and former Senate President Bukola Saraki have expressed deep sorrow over the passing of prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, describing his death as a significant loss to Nigeria’s religious and moral community.

In a condolence message on Wednesday, President Tinubu praised the late Sheikh as a revered spiritual leader whose teachings, scholarship and decades-long commitment to peace shaped millions of followers across the country and beyond. He noted that Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s contributions to Islamic knowledge, moral guidance, and national unity would remain indelible.

Governor Uba Sani also mourned the scholar, recalling his role in promoting peaceful coexistence in Kaduna and the wider northern region. He said the state had lost a moral compass whose counsel and spiritual leadership consistently fostered stability and understanding among diverse communities.

Similarly, former Senate President Bukola Saraki described Sheikh Bauchi as a towering figure in Islamic scholarship whose humility, discipline and dedication to knowledge inspired generations. Saraki extended his condolences to the scholar’s family, followers, and the Tijaniyya community, urging them to uphold his legacy of faith and tolerance.

The late Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi was widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most influential clerics, especially within the Tijaniyya movement, where he played a leading role for several decades. His burial is expected to attract dignitaries, religious leaders, and thousands of followers from across the country.
