Soludo takes oath for second term as Anambra Governor
Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has been sworn in for a second term in office during a ceremony held at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.
The event drew a wide array of dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond. Governor Soludo arrived at the venue at about 11:18 a.m. in the company of prominent figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.
Also in attendance were elder statesman and former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, as well as the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, among other distinguished guests.
Soludo took the oath of allegiance at exactly 11:50 a.m., followed by the oath of office, which lasted about five minutes. He was accompanied by his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Nonye Soludo, who stood beside him throughout the ceremony.
Shortly after, at about 11:55 a.m., the governor signed the oath documents in the presence of the Chief Judge of the state, drawing applause from attendees.
The ceremony officially marks the commencement of Soludo’s second term in office, which is expected to run until 2030.
