Katsina to automatically employ first-class graduates nationwide — Radda expands merit-based policy
The Katsina State Government has announced automatic employment for indigenes who graduate with first-class degrees, regardless of the tertiary institution they attended anywhere in Nigeria.
Governor Dikko Radda disclosed the expanded policy during the closing ceremony of the maiden Katsina Students’ Week held at Bayero University Kano (BUK), describing it as part of his administration’s drive to reward academic excellence and strengthen the state’s workforce.
According to him, the policy—previously limited to first-class graduates from institutions within Katsina State—has now been widened to include all Katsina indigenes who achieve first-class honours from accredited universities across the country.
Radda explained that the initiative is designed to build a more competent and efficient civil service by attracting highly skilled graduates capable of driving development and improving public service delivery in the state.
He further noted that his administration has also cleared outstanding scholarship arrears from 2021 to 2026, ensuring uninterrupted support for Katsina students.
The announcement has been widely welcomed by students and education stakeholders, who described it as a strong incentive for academic excellence and a boost to youth employment opportunities in the state.
