Anambra guber: CP Ikioye warns Officers, Politicians against electoral misconduct ahead of Primaries

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, has called for professionalism and neutrality among officers as political activities intensify ahead of the 2025 gubernatorial election in the state.
Speaking on April 4, 2025, during an interaction with the Command’s strategic officers, the CP emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order as political parties prepare for their primaries to select flag bearers.
He charged officers deployed for election-related security duties to remain apolitical and uphold integrity throughout the electoral process. He also urged political candidates and their supporters to abide by electoral guidelines and contribute to a peaceful, credible process.
In a proactive step to avoid conflict and maintain public order, the Command has deployed personnel across key areas and initiated engagements with stakeholders. Officers will conduct surveillance, patrols, traffic management, and coordinate with other security agencies to ensure safety during the primaries.
The CP appealed to the public to cooperate with security personnel in the discharge of their duties and encouraged anyone needing police assistance to contact the Command’s Control Room via 07039194332 or reach out to the Public Relations Officer at 08039334002.
According to the spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police remain committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that both politicians and the public respect the democratic process.
