Anambra Guber: George Moghalu wins Labour Party primaries

Dr. George Moghalu, former National Auditor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ex-Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), has been confirmed as the Labour Party (LP) candidate for the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election.
Moghalu triumphed in the governorship primary held on Saturday in Awka, securing 573 votes to defeat his only challenger, John Chuma Nwosu, who garnered a mere 19 votes.
The election was conducted under tight security and was lauded for its transparency and fairness.
In his speech following the election, Moghalu acknowledged the difficulty of running against the incumbent, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.
However, he expressed confidence in his ability to prevail, emphasizing that victory was indeed achievable.
He assured delegates and the people of Anambra that he would honor the trust placed in him and would not betray their confidence.
Moghalu laid out his vision for the state, stressing the need to restore public trust in the government.
He identified improvements in security and basic infrastructure as crucial areas for development, highlighting that Anambra requires a “rejig” to address its challenges.
His call for good governance aimed at restoring faith in the political system resonated with his supporters.
Moghalu further urged delegates to trust his leadership, pointing to his history of successfully completing every project he has undertaken.
He also reached out to Nwosu and his supporters, encouraging them to unite in ensuring the Labour Party’s success in the upcoming election.
His acceptance speech emphasized collaboration and moving forward together for the betterment of Anambra State. Moghalu’s leadership, as expressed in his message, is one focused on inclusivity, unity, and the well-being of the people.
