Gov Alia bans unauthorized visits to Benue, including IDP Camps
Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has officially banned all unauthorized visits to the state, including trips to Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor emphasized that he is not expecting any high-profile individuals or groups in the state at this time, as he is currently holding strategic meetings with key stakeholders to address pressing issues affecting Benue.
The government warned against any visit capable of triggering political gatherings without prior notification or approval. It further stressed that the safety and security of such visits could not be guaranteed without the governor’s awareness.
“Therefore, he strongly advises against any group or high-profile individual(s) attempting to enter the state for any kind of visit that may generate political assemblies without prior approval,” the statement read.
“For anyone considering a visit to Benue State without the Governor’s knowledge, it is imperative to reconsider such plans, as the safety and security of individuals in this regard cannot be guaranteed,” it added.
Governor Alia also directed that any person or organization intending to visit IDPs in the state must first obtain written authorization from the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA).
The statement concluded by urging security agencies and the public to take note of the directive and ensure peace and order is maintained across the state.
