Arokodare, Onyedika earn Ebony Shoe Award nominations
Super Eagles stars Tolu Arokodare and Raphael Onyedika have been shortlisted for this year’s prestigious Ebony Shoe award.
The Ebony Shoe is an annual honour given to the best African player, or player of African heritage, in the Belgian Pro League.
Arokodare has had a remarkable season with KRC Genk, netting 20 goals and registering five assists in 35 league matches. On the other hand, Onyedika has been a consistent performer for Club Brugge, helping the club reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League. The midfielder contributed two goals and two assists in 47 appearances across all competitions this season.
The award, first won by former Super Eagles striker Daniel Amokachi in 1992, has also been claimed by other Nigerians such as Victor Ikpeba, Godwin Okpara, Celestine Babayaro, and Paul Onuachu.
This year’s ceremony is scheduled for May 12 in Brussels.
