Bayelsa Queens gear up for WAFU B Qualifiers in Ivory Coast
Bayelsa Queens, reigning champions of the Nigeria Women’s Football League, are set to begin their campaign for a second appearance at the CAF Women’s Champions League through the WAFU B zonal qualifiers, scheduled to hold in Ivory Coast from August 9 to 24, 2025.
The West African Football Union Zone B confirmed the tournament dates and host nation in a statement released by the Ghana Football Association. With this participation, the Prosperity Girls will become the first Nigerian club to compete twice in the WAFU B qualifiers.
Bayelsa Queens made history in 2022 when they clinched the regional title after a 3-1 victory over Burkina Faso’s US Forces Armées in the final. They went on to record Nigeria’s best-ever outing at the CAF Women’s Champions League by finishing third in Morocco that year.
The Yenagoa-based side will be hoping to replicate their impressive performance and secure another ticket to the continent’s biggest women’s club football event.
