Dangote Refinery to distribute free Petrol, Diesel to marketers nationwide
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced it will commence the free distribution of petrol and diesel to marketers, dealers, and other large users across Nigeria starting from August 15, 2025.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Lagos-based refinery confirmed the initiative would begin with the deployment of 4,000 brand-new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers to ease product distribution nationwide.
The company further disclosed that it will offer a special credit arrangement to bulk buyers who purchase at least 500,000 litres of fuel, allowing them to access an additional 500,000 litres on credit for two weeks, provided they present a valid bank guarantee.
To support smooth operations, the refinery said it has also invested in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations — popularly known as daughter booster stations — backed by a fleet of over 100 CNG tankers to enhance last-mile delivery.
“This strategic programme is part of our commitment to reducing logistics costs, boosting energy efficiency, driving sustainability, and supporting Nigeria’s overall economic growth,” the statement said.
The company explained that the initiative aims to revive dormant petrol stations, create jobs, support small and medium enterprises (SMEs), grow government revenue, improve fuel availability in rural and hard-to-reach areas, and strengthen investor confidence in the country’s downstream petroleum sector.
Dangote Refinery described the plan as a major step toward transforming Nigeria’s energy landscape. “Our goal is to make energy more accessible and affordable for every Nigerian, no matter where they live,” it stated.
