FAAN inagurates Ganduje, seven others as board members

Barely days after stepping down as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has been officially appointed as Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
The inauguration, which took place in Abuja, was presided over by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.
The event also saw the induction of seven other prominent individuals representing vital ministries and aviation agencies. Minister Keyamo described the inauguration as a significant move to reposition Nigeria’s aviation sector, stressing that the new leadership is expected to strengthen infrastructure and improve service delivery.
Welcoming Ganduje to his new post, Keyamo expressed confidence in the former Kano governor’s capacity to deliver, humorously adding that his influence would ease conversations around funding needs. In his acceptance remarks, Ganduje thanked President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity and pledged to lead in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He promised to carefully study the FAAN Act, avoid conflict between the board, executive management, and the ministry, and ensure efficient, world-class airport operations. The FAAN Managing Director/CEO, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, also expressed optimism that the new board would promote strategic growth and improve passenger experience nationwide.
The newly inaugurated FAAN Board members include:
1. Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje – Chairman
2. Engr. T. P. Vembe – Member
3. Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku – Member
4. Ms. Dorothy Duruak – Member
5. Ahmed Ibrahim Suleiman – Member
The new board is expected to bring fresh direction to Nigeria’s aviation sector, prioritising safety, passenger satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.
