APC extends deadline for sale, submission of nomination forms
The All Progressives Congress has announced an extension of deadlines for the sale and submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for aspirants ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party said the adjustment was necessary to accommodate the revised timetable and ensure a smooth nomination process.
According to the party, the sale of forms has now been extended to midnight on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, while the submission of completed forms will close at midnight on Thursday, May 7, 2026.
The APC also announced a new schedule for the screening of aspirants, which is set to take place from Friday, May 8, to Tuesday, May 12, 2026. The publication of the list of screened aspirants is expected on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
The revised timeline follows an earlier delay in the commencement of the exercise, which initially began three days later than scheduled.
The party had previously fixed its nomination fees at N100 million for presidential aspirants and N50 million for governorship aspirants. Senate hopefuls are required to pay N20 million, while those contesting for the House of Representatives are to pay N10 million. Aspirants for State Houses of Assembly are expected to pay N6 million.
The APC had commenced the sale of nomination forms last week as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The extension is seen as a move to give aspirants additional time to complete necessary documentation amid growing political activities across the country.
