Former Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and ex-Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, have declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is set for its National Convention and adoption of President Bola Tinubu as the sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The declaration was made on Monday in Abuja during the Environment and Sanitation sub-committee meeting, chaired by Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, ahead of the convention scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) resolved to retain the zoning formula for the election of party executives at the national level. Ayade expressed satisfaction with the management of the FCT and emphasized the party’s readiness for the 2027 elections, highlighting President Tinubu’s achievements.
Masari and Dogara reinforced the party’s preparedness, noting that the convention would focus on both domestic and global issues, and applauded the leadership of the FCT. Dogara stressed that the reforms being implemented would take time but were necessary for national progress.
Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Aspirants’ Screening Sub-committee, Biodun Oyebanji, assured aspirants of fairness and transparency in the screening process, with Kogi Governor and co-chair Ododo emphasizing the selfless service to the party and the nation. Secretary of the committee, Senator Uche Ekwunife, confirmed that the party is fully prepared for the convention and the 2027 elections, predicting a landslide victory for the APC.
Following the PGF meeting, chaired by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, the forum reiterated commitment to principled governance, democratic stability, and President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Discussions included national development, security, and strategic international engagement, emphasizing that responsible leadership must balance immediate pressures with long-term stability, productivity, and inclusion.
