BREAKING: FG declares March 19–20 Public Holidays for Eid-el-Fitr
The Federal Government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, signalling the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, the minister extended warm greetings and congratulations to Muslim faithful on completing the Ramadan fast.
Tunji-Ojo urged Muslims to uphold the virtues of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice emphasized during the holy month.
He called on all Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for national peace, unity, and prosperity, while also celebrating responsibly and extending kindness to the less privileged.
The minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to fostering national unity and peaceful coexistence among all citizens.
