Davido pauses music, to leads Adeleke’s reelection youth campaign in Osun
Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has announced plans to temporarily step back from some of his music engagements for about two months to support the re-election campaign of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
He made the announcement on Tuesday in Ede while inaugurating a youth campaign committee set up to mobilise support for the governor’s second-term ambition.
Davido said his decision was driven by personal conviction and his support for the administration’s performance, noting that he believes in the direction of the governor’s leadership.
“I have put my musical career on hold for two months to come and work for my uncle, not only because he is my uncle but because I believe in what he is doing and the work ahead,” he said.
He called on members of the youth campaign committee to intensify grassroots mobilisation across the state, urging them to engage residents directly through door-to-door outreach and community engagement.
“Let’s do door-to-door mobilisation across all local governments, engaging with people in our communities,” he added.
Davido was appointed chairman of the youth campaign committee, with Adeshina Kayode serving as vice chairman and Hon. Gbenga Idowu as secretary.
The development forms part of early political activities building momentum ahead of the next election cycle in Osun State.
