Flying Eagles battle to 1-1 draw with Ghana in WAFU B U-20 opener

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Ghana’s Black Satellites in their opening fixture of the 2025 WAFU B Under-20 Boys Tournament held on Thursday in Accra.
The home side went ahead in the 26th minute when their captain, Musbau Azeez, took advantage of a defensive blunder to slot in the opener.
Despite creating several chances, Nigeria found it difficult to break down Ghana’s defence.
Their persistence, however, paid off in the 84th minute when Mohammed Abdulahi leapt above everyone else to head home from a well-delivered corner, ensuring the Flying Eagles earned a share of the spoils.
With the result, the Flying Eagles will now turn their attention to their second group match against the Young Cheetahs of Benin Republic, scheduled for Sunday.
