The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has announced extensive security deployments across the territory ahead of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026.

The operation aims to ensure a peaceful, free, and credible electoral process.

Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, disclosed that the deployment involves personnel from sister security agencies, including the Nigeria Army, Nigeria Air Force, Nigeria Navy, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

He charged all deployed officers to maintain the highest level of professionalism, remain vigilant, impartial, and courteous, while ensuring adequate security coverage at all polling units and collation centres.

As part of security measures, a restriction of movement will be enforced across the FCT from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on election day, except for essential service providers and election officials. Residents are urged to cooperate fully with security personnel and adhere to operational guidelines.

The FCT Police also encouraged the public to remain law-abiding, exercise their civic responsibility without fear, and report any suspicious activities or persons via emergency numbers 08032003913 or 08061581938.
