Niger State, Overland Airways launch flights from Tinubu International Airport, Minna
The Niger State Government has partnered with Overland Airways to begin scheduled commercial flights from the newly commissioned Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna, marking a significant step in regional air travel.
According to a statement released by Captain Edward Boyo, Chief Executive Officer of Overland Airways, flights are set to commence on April 23 and will connect Minna to Abuja and Lagos, Nigeria’s political and commercial centres.
Captain Boyo credited the development to the leadership of Governor Umar Bago and the coordinated efforts of the New Niger Development Project (NNDP) and New Niger Aviation (NNA)—a Special Purpose Vehicle established to oversee and grow the state’s aviation infrastructure.
“We are honoured to be chosen as the launch airline for this historic route,” said Boyo.
“This service underscores our commitment to expanding connectivity across Nigeria and partnering with visionary governments like Niger State to bring growth closer to the people. We applaud Governor Bago and the NNA team for this bold and transformational move.”
Alhaji Liman Katamba Kutigi, Chief Operating Officer of NNA, described the launch as more than just a transport link. “This is a bridge to opportunity. By partnering with Overland Airways, we are setting a new standard in regional air connectivity, placing safety, reliability, and economic impact at the forefront,” he said. He added that the partnership marks the beginning of a broader goal to place Niger State firmly on Nigeria’s aviation and logistics map.
The Niger State Ministry of Transport, working alongside the NNDP, also expressed pride in the airport’s transformation, stating: “The journey to make Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport operational has been long and deliberate. From infrastructure to full compliance with aviation standards, we are proud to deliver a world-class airport that reflects Niger State’s potential and ambition. The Governor’s commitment has been relentless, and this milestone is just the beginning.”
Flight operations will follow this schedule:
