Nigeria-Kenya Chamber Strengthens Trade Drive with NACCIMA Membership

The Nigeria-Kenya Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NiKCCIMA) has been admitted as a member of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), ahead of its maiden Business Forum and formal launch scheduled for October.

NiKCCIMA was admitted alongside other chambers, including the Ikere Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, at NACCIMA’s 2026 67th Annual General Meeting held in Nsukka, Enugu State.

Founder and Global President of NiKCCIMA, Arc. Roberts M. Achanya, described the development as a significant milestone for the bilateral chamber, saying it would strengthen its efforts to promote trade and economic cooperation between Nigeria and Kenya.

Achanya said the chamber was established to expand South-South and intra-African cooperation under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), while supporting Nigeria’s export and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) development agenda.

“This is validation of our vision and mission to expand South-South and intra-African cooperation under the African Continental Free Trade Area,” he said.

“It strengthens Nigeria’s export drive and MSME expansion agenda under the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and it moves us closer to Nigeria’s ambition of a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2030.”

Achanya said NiKCCIMA was founded on almost three decades of experience among its founding members in international trade facilitation, public-private partnerships and cross-border commerce across Africa and Asia.

The chamber operates under a single structure comprising one Global Secretariat and two national chapters. Its charter also provides for a “Two-Key” principle under which Nigerian and Kenyan officers share authority equally.

NiKCCIMA already has legal status in Nigeria, while its Kenyan chapter is completing registration with the Kenyan Registrar of Companies.

The chamber’s Director-General, Alh. Abdullahi Usman Maikano, said its admission into NACCIMA reflected the organisation’s existing structure, governance and activities.

“NACCIMA does not admit chambers on promise. It admits them on structure, on governance, and on evidence of real work,” Maikano said.

“Our membership confirms that NiKCCIMA is recognised, alongside Nigeria’s most established chambers, as a serious institution for the Nigeria-Kenya corridor.”

National Chairman of NiKCCIMA and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of First Class Group, Alh. (Dr) Badamasi Burji, said the NACCIMA membership would also strengthen the chamber’s Global Advisory Council.

“Our Global Advisory Council brings together some of the most active entrepreneurs and traders in both Nigeria and Kenya,” Burji said.

“Their appetite for this corridor is real, and NACCIMA membership gives that appetite a stronger institutional home.”

The admission follows NiKCCIMA’s Nigeria-Kenya Blue and Orange Economy Mission in June, which was held on the sidelines of the 11th Our Ocean Conference in Mombasa, Kenya.

According to the chamber, the mission produced preliminary agreements covering a proposed West-East African Maritime Trade Corridor, aquaculture technology transfer and plans to benchmark aspects of Nigeria’s inland-waterway revenue system against Kenya’s model.

NiKCCIMA has also activated its Deal Room and One-Desk services, which it says are designed to screen and match trade opportunities between Nigerian and Kenyan businesses.

Achanya said the NACCIMA membership would provide the chamber with a formal presence within Nigeria’s organised private-sector policy framework.

He added that it would give NiKCCIMA access to NACCIMA’s network of chambers across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, as well as its relationships with government ministries, development partners and diplomatic missions in Abuja.

October Launch

NiKCCIMA is scheduled to hold its maiden Business Forum and formal launch on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at Crystal Hall, Chelsea Hotel, in the Central Business Area of Abuja.

The event, being co-hosted with the High Commission of Kenya, will be formally launched by Kenya’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, H.E. Ambassador Isaac Keen Parashina.

The forum will be held under the theme, “Nigeria-Kenya Trade Corridor: Pathways for AfCFTA and Bilateral Trade.”

The event will also preview a joint NiKCCIMA-Kenya High Commission Trade and Investment Mission scheduled for November.

The November mission is expected to include a commercial delegation comprising exporters and processors, alongside a separate delegation of Nigerian state revenue officials who will study aspects of Kenya’s revenue administration system.

Following the October launch, NiKCCIMA said its immediate priorities would include completing the structuring of its Kenyan chapter, onboarding members of its Global Advisory and Bilateral Councils, and preparing for the November trade and investment mission.

NiKCCIMA describes itself as a bilateral chamber focused on facilitating trade, investment and business collaboration between Nigeria and Kenya under the AfCFTA framework.
