Nigeria’s Falconets storm U-20 World Cup Quarter-Finals after 3-0 win over England

Nigeria’s Falconets have booked their place in the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after defeating England 3-0.

The Nigerian side delivered a dominant performance to secure their second victory of the tournament and take their goals tally to 13 in four matches.

Tosin Rafiu put the Falconets ahead in the eighth minute, giving Nigeria an early advantage.

England were handed an opportunity to level the scores from the penalty spot in the first half, but Nigeria captain Christiana Uzoma produced an important save to deny Rachel Maltby and preserve her side’s lead.

The Falconets doubled their advantage just two minutes into the second half when Seimeyeha Janet Akekoromowei found the back of the net.

Mary Mamudu then completed the scoring in the 73rd minute as Nigeria sealed a convincing victory over the Young Lionesses.

The result means the Falconets have now recorded two wins, one draw and one defeat at the tournament, while keeping two clean sheets.

Nigeria will return to action in the quarter-finals on September 20, 2026.

The Falconets are scheduled to face either Poland or Colombia at Stadion Miejski ŁKS Łódź in Łódź, with kick-off set for 6:30pm Nigerian time.
