North Central Govs pledge joint action against insecurity, underdevelopment
Governors from Nigeria’s North Central region have agreed to adopt a united front in tackling the persistent insecurity and other pressing issues affecting their states.
This decision was reached during a meeting held at the Nasarawa State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.
Chairman of the North Central Governors’ Forum and host of the meeting, Governor Abdullahi Sule, said the gathering was organised to strengthen cooperation among member states in dealing with shared challenges.
He condemned the recent spate of violent attacks in Plateau, Benue, and Kwara States, making it clear that the governors would no longer tolerate threats to peace within the region.
The forum resolved to intensify consultations among themselves, enhance intelligence-sharing, and make effective use of the North Central Development Commission to execute vital infrastructure and economic initiatives that would uplift the region.
Governor Sule highlighted agriculture and mining as key sectors capable of driving development across the North Central states.
He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his continuous support and called for stronger collaboration with the Federal Government, private investors, and international development agencies to achieve their goals.
The forum is made up of governors from Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, and Plateau States.
