PDP’s Anambra guber candidate, Jude Ezenwafor, shot in Abuja
Chief Jude Ezenwafor, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the 2025 Anambra State election, has been shot by unidentified gunmen in Abuja.
The attack occurred on Friday night in the Wuse 2 area of the Federal Capital Territory while Ezenwafor was on his way home from an appointment. He is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Abuja, whose location remains undisclosed.
From his hospital bed, the shaken candidate described the ordeal as a near-death experience. “I’m currently in the hospital. The doctors are making efforts to operate me so that they can pull out bullets from my body,” he said in a faint voice.
Though official details of the incident are still unclear, his media team confirmed that he sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to the emergency unit immediately after the attack.
Security agencies have yet to release a formal statement, but a PDP campaign insider said the matter has been reported to the police, and an investigation has begun.
Ezenwafor, once a presidential aspirant under the Labour Party before returning to the PDP, was recently named the party’s flagbearer for the upcoming Anambra governorship election scheduled for later this year.
