Rivers Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu defects to APC
Rivers State Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu has officially registered as a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), marking the latest senior defection from the opposition in the oil-rich state.
Odu completed her registration at her polling unit in Akabuka, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area. Afterward, she joined party supporters in singing “On Your Mandate We Shall Stand,” a song closely associated with President Bola Tinubu and the APC’s campaign messaging.
Her move comes weeks after Governor Siminalayi Fubara formally joined the APC following a meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Fubara was subsequently registered as a party member by Rivers APC Chairman Tony Okocha under directives from the national secretariat.
Following these developments, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda appointed Fubara as the party’s leader in Rivers State, consolidating the party’s organizational control and signaling a strengthened presence in the state.
