SCSN confirms Sheikh Umar as President, mourns late Hadiyatullah
The Supreme Council for Shari‘ah in Nigeria (SCSN) has appointed Sheikh Bashir Umar as its new President, following the demise of Sheikh AbdulRasheed Hadiyatullah.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Secretary-General of the Council, Malam Nafi’u Ahmed, who described Hadiyatullah’s passing as a significant loss to the Muslim Ummah both within Nigeria and beyond. He prayed to Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
According to the statement, Sheikh Umar’s confirmation is in accordance with the Council’s constitution and established protocols. Ahmed expressed confidence in the new President’s leadership, scholarship, and unwavering commitment to the propagation of Shari’ah and justice.
The Council added that the appointment of a new Vice-President would be announced in due course.
It also urged the Muslim community to continue offering prayers and support, reaffirming its commitment to promoting Islamic values and principles throughout the nation.
