Sen Oluremi Tinubu flags off 10,000 kits to midwives

Nigeria’s first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has flagged off the distribution of 10,000 professional kits to midwives provided by her pet project, the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI)
The flag off for the northwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria was held in Kaduna state with the first ladies of the seven states of the zone in attendance.
Senator Oluremu Tinubu emphasised that the healthcare profession demands more than fundamental skills and compassion but also requires access to appropriate tools and infrastructure to enhance service delivery.
The First Lady explained that the efforts of midwives and health professionals continue to be pivotal to attaining the reduction of maternity and child mortality in Nigeria.
The governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Uba Sani called for more training and retraining of health workers so that Nigeria can serve the world better in the health sector.
Governor Sani commended the wife of the president for her dedication in improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
“Our vision is to create healthy communities while the poor and vulnerable have access to quality healthcare. I call on her excellency for using this presentation of 10,000 professional kits to draw attention to draw attention to our midwives and the critical role they play in healthcare delivery.”
The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Ali Pate gave the assurance that the federal government was working tirelessly to close the gaps in healthcare especially for pregnant mothers.
“This gesture by her excellency is complementary to that because now you are kitted. So I need the midwives receiving these kits to focus on improving the service and care that our mothers will receive in the ante-natal care.”
One of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude adding that it would help the midwives to carry out their duties effectively and efficiently.
The event was also an opportunity for the first lady to empower 1,000 petty traders to recapitalise their businesses with a grant of 50,000 naira each.
