Tragedy struck Ridawa village in Ghari Local Government Area on Wednesday morning after a sand pit used for brick-making collapsed, leaving several workers feared dead.
The incident occurred while labourers were excavating sand for brick production when the pit suddenly gave way, trapping a number of them beneath the rubble.
Witnesses said rescue efforts have been ongoing for hours, with local residents and emergency responders struggling to reach those buried. However, some victims remained trapped as of the time of filing this report, raising fears over their survival.
There are concerns that multiple casualties may have been recorded, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Meanwhile, the lawmaker representing the constituency, Sani Bala, disclosed that about 10 persons were believed to be trapped underground.
He called for urgent intervention, including the deployment of a rescue vehicle to support ongoing operations and prevent further loss of lives.
