VIDEO: NNPCL, Afreximbank partner to launch State-of-the-Art Hospital in Nigeria
In a groundbreaking collaboration, NNPCLis joining forces with Afreximbank to bring the African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) to life. Located in Abuja, this state-of-the-art 500-bed hospital will specialize in critical areas such as oncology, hematology, and cardiology, while also providing advanced medical training for Nigerians.
The AMCE aims to revolutionize healthcare in Nigeria by offering world-class medical treatment, reducing the need for medical tourism. Scheduled to open in June 2025, this strategic investment will significantly enhance access to specialized healthcare, benefiting not only Nigerians but also patients from across West Africa.
This was made known by the Group Corporate Communications officer of the NNPCL Olufemi Soneye at a stakeholders engagement parley with Parliamentary reporters
At the parley the CCCO who stressed the need for media collaboration noted that NNPCL believes in fueling not just vehicles but also “meaningful moments like this”.

This is one out of the many stakeholders engagement since Mr Femi Soneye came on board with strategic media engagements to reposition the NNPCL thereby yielding results
Welcoming attendees to the engagement, Soneye emphasized the vital role of the oil sector in Nigeria’s economic and social development, stressing that NNPCL remains dedicated to not just fueling vehicles but also driving national progress.
He said “ I’m glad to have you here again to this stakeholder engagement proudly sponsored by NNPC, I must say—it is truly heartwarming to see how it has brought us together.
“ For nations like Nigeria oil is more than just a commodity; it is the backbone of economic growth, industrialization, and social progress. It fuels transportation, powers industries, and generates revenues that support national development”
“The energy sector remains a major employer, creating opportunities for millions.- from exploration fields to refining plants and beyond”
“Beyond its contribution to the macroeconomy, oil plays an integral role in our daily lives, often in ways we take for granted. It provides the energy that lights our homes, fuels our transportation systems, and serves as the foundation for critical industries such as plastics, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture. Without oil, modern life as we know it would be vastly different”
