The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has conducted an inspection of ongoing drainage, sewer, and access road projects around the World Trade Center Abuja and the Abuja Metro Rail corridor.

The initiative is aimed at addressing persistent flooding and traffic congestion in one of the capital’s most strategic districts.

The inspection focused on infrastructure that serves Abuja’s key government and commercial hub, which accommodates federal offices, corporate headquarters, diplomatic missions, and experiences heavy daily movement of workers and residents.

Officials from the Federal Capital Development Authority, executing the projects under the FCT Administration, explained that the upgrades are designed to improve stormwater management, reduce road damage, and ensure safer, more efficient access along critical routes.

Speaking during the visit, Wike praised the World Trade Center Abuja, describing it as an impressive addition to the city’s skyline. He emphasized that public infrastructure surrounding major investments must match the scale and importance of such developments.

Jerome Das, Chief Executive of the Churchgate Group, commended the FCT Administration for tackling long-standing drainage and access challenges along the World Trade Center and Metro Rail corridor. Similarly, Ibukun Adeogun, General Manager of Operations and Corporate Communications at Churchgate, noted that the infrastructure improvements would enhance access, safety, and the overall functionality of the area.

Adeogun added that the inspection signals to investors and institutions nationwide that the FCT Administration is committed to prioritizing infrastructure that supports Abuja’s role as a reliable hub for governance, commerce, and diplomacy.

The ongoing works are expected to significantly reduce flooding risks, ease traffic bottlenecks, and strengthen the operational efficiency of both public and private institutions in one of the capital’s busiest districts.
