Channels TV Cameraman dies after 10 Days in coma from Bauchi crash
A Kani Ben, a cameraman with Channels Television, has died after spending 10 days in a coma following a road accident involving journalists in Bauchi State.
The crash occurred on February 6 while 13 journalists were covering a project inspection by the North East Development Commission (NEDC).
Kani Ben, who was seated in the front passenger seat at the time of the accident, sustained severe spinal cord injuries. He underwent surgery at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), where he initially responded to treatment before his condition worsened.
He was pronounced dead in the early hours of Sunday.
Colleagues and family members have since mourned his passing, describing him as a committed and hardworking journalist whose life was tragically cut short in the line of duty.
His death has cast a pall over the media community, particularly among journalists who were part of the ill-fated assignment.
