The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced that the Abuja-Kaduna passenger train service will resume operations next week after weeks of suspension.

According to a press statement signed by Callistus Unyimadu, Chief Public Relations Officer of the Corporation, the decision follows the successful completion of repairs and safety checks on the damaged section of track at Asham.

The service was halted after the August 26, 2025 incident, but NRC said it has since worked to restore both the infrastructure and rolling stock to global safety standards.

The statement revealed that out of the 583 passengers on the affected train, 512 have already received refunds, while efforts are ongoing to reach the remaining passengers to ensure no one is left out.

NRC expressed appreciation to passengers for their patience and understanding during the suspension period, assuring the public that safety, comfort, and satisfaction remain its top priority.

The Corporation also thanked the Federal Ministry of Transportation, security agencies, media, and other stakeholders for their support throughout the recovery process.

Further details on the official resumption date and train schedules will be announced soon, NRC confirmed.
