2Baba breaks silence, accuses family of destroying his marriage to Natasha
Nigerian music legend, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba or 2Face, has broken his silence on the controversy surrounding his relationship with Natasha, accusing members of his family of worsening the situation under the guise of trying to “save” him.
The matter, which has dominated social media conversations for days, reportedly began in the United Kingdom, where an alleged confrontation between 2Baba and Natasha drew the attention of authorities. According to multiple reports, the singer was briefly detained following the incident.
Tensions escalated further when 2Baba and Natasha appeared on a live Instagram session with broadcaster Daddy Freeze, during which the couple exchanged heated words in the presence of thousands of viewers. The video went viral, sparking widespread speculation about possible cracks in their marriage and raising concerns over the singer’s mental and emotional well-being.
Adding to the growing intrigue, a cryptic post shared by Hyacinth Idibia, 2Baba’s brother, suggested that the family had become increasingly involved in the situation — a move that has now drawn sharp reactions from fans and observers alike.
In a video message released on Thursday night, 2Baba expressed deep frustration over what he described as “destructive interference” by his relatives, claiming their actions had not only destabilized his peace but also endangered Natasha’s life.
“This whole thing has gotten dangerously out of hand. I’m not going to be quiet anymore. I feel I have to say some facts here. I’m a grown man and believe I have the right to be with whoever I want to be with. My family, in the pretext of trying to save me, has actually destroyed me and killed someone’s daughter’s character. Natasha is getting death threats right now,” he said.
The “African Queen” crooner noted that while disagreements are normal in every relationship, the current media storm had become excessive and unfair.
“Fine, we have had our quarrels, but who doesn’t quarrel with their spouses? This is getting out of hand. I am perfectly okay. Everyone has been seeing me out there, I did my show recently in Abuja and a lot of people were there. How do you say you want to save me but you are messing the whole thing up? This is unacceptable,” he added.
2Baba also recalled that his family had displayed similar behavior during his earlier marital issues with actress Annie Idibia, describing the recurring interference as “dangerous” and emotionally draining.
> “My family did this with Annie — the same thing. We all have our differences, but this is becoming so dangerous right now,” he lamented.
The singer’s outburst has ignited another wave of debate on social media, with fans split between those urging the family to respect his privacy and others calling for greater intervention to ensure the safety and emotional stability of everyone involved.
