Diesel shortage disrupts telecom services in parts of Abuja — NCC
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is aware of the Quality of Service (QoS) challenges currently being experienced by telecommunications subscribers in parts of Abuja.
The Commission acknowledges the inconvenience caused by these service disruptions and wishes to reassure the public that it is working closely with relevant government agencies and affected operators to restore normal service levels as quickly as possible.
Investigations have shown that the challenges largely stem from a disruption in diesel supply to IHS Nigeria Limited, the colocation provider responsible for powering a majority of Airtel and MTN base stations in the affected areas. The disruption is linked to ongoing activities by the National Oil and Gas Suppliers Association (NOGASA), which have impacted the delivery of diesel to critical telecommunications infrastructure.
In response, the Commission is taking proactive steps to facilitate dialogue among the affected service providers and relevant stakeholders to ensure a swift resolution of the diesel supply issues that have adversely affected service quality.
The NCC remains fully committed to managing the situation effectively and will continue to keep the public informed of progress made toward restoring full telecommunications services in Abuja.
We appreciate the understanding and patience of telecommunications subscribers during this period and reaffirm our commitment to promoting reliable, efficient and high-quality telecommunications services across Nigeria.
