Tinubu, Shettima, Governors attend NEC conference in Abuja
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, state governors and members of the Federal Executive Council on Monday attended the National Economic Council (NEC) conference at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Speaking at the opening session, President Tinubu described the NEC as a cornerstone of his administration’s economic development agenda, stressing its critical role in shaping national policies and coordinating economic reforms across the federation.
The President said Nigeria is currently standing at a defining crossroads, confronted by multiple challenges, but expressed confidence that Nigerians possess the resilience and capacity to overcome them.
According to him, the economic reforms introduced by his administration are deliberate policy instruments aimed at delivering sustainable prosperity and long-term growth for the country.
Tinubu also reiterated his government’s commitment to addressing the nation’s security challenges, assuring Nigerians that efforts are being intensified to defeat what he described as “unacceptable terrorism.”
He further stated that the administration has recorded notable achievements, particularly in fiscal coordination, noting that state and local governments are now receiving their statutory allocations regularly, enabling them to meet salary obligations and fund developmental programmes.
The NEC meeting is expected to deliberate on key economic and fiscal issues affecting the country, as well as strategies to strengthen cooperation between the federal, state and local governments.
