One killed as vehicle overturns near Tipper Garage in Abuja
A truck assistant, popularly known as a motor boy, has reportedly lost his life after a truck driver lost control and crashed near the busy Tipper Garage junction along the Dutse–Bwari Highway in the Federal Capital Territory.
A resident, Ose Idasho, said the truck was heading from the Usuma Dam axis when it veered off the road and overturned close to the Azman filling station, a few metres before the junction.
According to him, the vehicle fell on the assistant driver, killing him on the spot. The truck was also said to have rammed into two other vehicles before coming to a halt.
In a related development, another accident occurred at the Saukale roundabout, located a short distance from the first crash site, heightening concerns about safety along the corridor.
Confirming the incidents, the FCT Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Felix Theman, said while the first accident recorded a fatality, no lives were lost in the second crash.
The incidents have once again drawn attention to traffic safety and the need for stricter compliance with road regulations along the ever-busy Dutse–Bwari Highway.
