Adamawa PDP Chairman, exco resign, defect to APC
The wave of political defections in Adamawa State intensified on Friday as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Hamza Bello Madagali, resigned from his position and formally dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Madagali announced his resignation alongside members of the State Executive Committee, who also defected to the ruling party in a move that followed the earlier defection of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
Speaking during a press briefing at the PDP Secretariat in Yola, Madagali said the decision was reached after extensive consultations and was taken in what he described as the best interest of Adamawa State.
The PDP chairman, who is a kinsman of Governor Fintiri, stepped down together with the entire State Executive Committee, including party chairmen across the 21 local government areas of the state.
He explained that the mass defection was aimed at aligning with the political direction of Governor Fintiri and promoting unity and stability in the state’s political landscape.
The development marks a major setback for the PDP in Adamawa State, as the defection of the party’s state leadership structure is expected to significantly alter the political balance ahead of future elections.
