Political tensions escalate in Rivers as thugs set ADC Office ablaze
Suspected political thugs on Thursday night set ablaze the office of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ubima Community, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, the hometown of former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi.
Sources reported that the attackers, believed to be politically motivated, opened fire sporadically in the community, creating panic among residents. Amaechi, a key leader of the ADC, is scheduled to visit Ubima on Friday to officially register with the party at the ward level.
According to local accounts, the thugs returned Friday morning to mount a roadblock on the Omuawa-Ubima Road, preventing vehicles displaying ADC banners from entering the town.
Security operatives were reportedly deployed to the area, restoring calm and ensuring that residents could move safely. No casualties have been reported so far, but the incident has heightened political tensions ahead of the 2027 elections.
