Uba Sani Vows Massive Kaduna Support for Tinubu Ahead of 2027 Election
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has declared that the state will deliver massive support for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, expressing confidence that the president will perform better in the state than he did in 2023.
Sani made the declaration while receiving members of the Support Groups Directorate of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC), led by former Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr Silas Agara, at the Government House in Kaduna.
The visit followed a solidarity walk by thousands of supporters who took to the streets to demonstrate their support for Tinubu ahead of a planned presidential campaign rally.
“Kaduna State will support President Tinubu and vote massively for him in recognition of his achievements. We encourage our supporters to remain united, peaceful and committed to engaging the people as we prepare for Saturday’s rally,” the governor said.
The declaration comes against the backdrop of the 2023 presidential election, when Tinubu finished second in Kaduna State behind the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Atiku secured 554,360 votes, winning 14 of the state’s 23 local government areas, while Tinubu polled 399,293 votes and won in Birnin Gwari and Sanga.
Peter Obi of the Labour Party came third with 294,494 votes, winning seven local government areas, while Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) received 92,969 votes.
Speaking during the meeting, Sani welcomed the support group leaders and members, commending their mobilisation efforts and emphasising the importance of political participation, unity and sustained engagement with citizens.
He said Tinubu’s administration had continued to pursue policies and programmes aimed at addressing Nigeria’s challenges and laying the foundation for sustainable development.
The governor also stressed the need for supporters to explain the objectives and impact of the administration’s ongoing reforms to Nigerians.
The solidarity procession began around the Savannah Bank area and proceeded towards the Government House before returning to the APC Ciki da Waje State Secretariat.
Participants carried flags bearing inscriptions in support of Tinubu, while drumming and dancing featured prominently during the procession.
Agara commended Sani for receiving the delegation and acknowledged the contributions of support group leaders and members to the mobilisation exercise.
He described the walk as part of efforts to coordinate different support groups and strengthen their participation in the APC’s campaign activities.
“Today’s solidarity walk demonstrates our commitment to organising and coordinating support groups ahead of the campaign. We have brought together members from different groups to demonstrate unity of purpose and strengthen our collective participation in the political process,” Agara said.
He added that the directorate was responsible for ensuring that support groups remained organised, active and prepared to participate in the campaign.
Agara also thanked the governor for receiving the delegation ahead of the planned rally.
Among the prominent figures at the engagement were former Niger State Deputy Governor Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Ketso; former Edo State Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu; Minister of State for Works Bello Muhammad Goronyo; North-West Coordinator of the Support Group Directorate Bafa Dan Agundi; and Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi.
Agara said similar solidarity walks would be organised across the states of the federation ahead of the respective presidential campaign rallies.
He stressed, however, that the groups’ responsibilities extended beyond processions and public displays of support.
“Our task goes beyond carrying flags and participating in processions. We must engage citizens, communicate the policies and programmes of the administration, and ensure that Nigerians understand the issues at stake. We are determined to work together, strengthen our structures and sustain our mobilisation efforts ahead of the elections,” he said.
