FCTA organises training for FCT Vice Principals on innovation and entrepreneurship education
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), through its Education Secretariat in Abuja Nigeria, is set to hold a two-day training programme for Vice Principals (Academics) of FCT secondary schools, focusing on Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education. The event, scheduled for 18–19 February 2025, will take place at the Nigeria Building and Road Research Institute (NBBRI), Abuja.
The training is part of the ongoing efforts of the Brunel Team within the FCT education sector to instil entrepreneurship values in schools, benefiting both teachers and students. Led by Dr. Sani Ladan, Director/Secretary of the FCT Secondary Education Board, the team has been instrumental in promoting entrepreneurship as a means of fostering economic independence and societal development.
Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Ladan highlighted the significance of entrepreneurship education, stating, “Entrepreneurship is a gateway to self-reliance and a tool for positively impacting society. It is crucial for educators to embrace and promote these values to transform our education system and prepare students for the future.” He encouraged participants to integrate entrepreneurial skills into their schools and daily lives while commending the FCT Administration for facilitating their training at Brunel University, UK. Since their return, the team has continued to enhance teaching and learning across the FCT.
The training will cover key areas, including Understanding Entrepreneurship Education, Leadership for Entrepreneurship, Stakeholder Engagement, Resource Mobilisation, and Curriculum Development.
Dignitaries expected to attend the event include:
The Honourable Minister of State, FCT, The FCT Secretary for Education, The FCT Permanent Secretary for Education, Directors from the Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB) and the FCT Department of Science, Technology, and Innovation
Through this initiative, the FCTA aims to equip Vice Principals with the skills and knowledge required to foster entrepreneurship education, thereby preparing students for self-sufficiency and economic growth.
