PSC promotes 13 commissioners of Police to AIG rank
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 13 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) following their performance in written examinations and oral interviews conducted at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
The commission also approved the promotion of 17 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to the rank of Commissioners of Police.
PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani disclosed that the list of successful officers has been forwarded to the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force for implementation.
Those promoted to the rank of AIG include Emmanuel Ado Christopher, Joseph Eribo, Dantawaye Miller, Uche Ifeanyi Henry, Olarenwaju Peter Ogunlowo, Muhammad Dahiru, Dankombo Morris, Bello Shehu, Ibrahim B. Maikaba, Ahmed Musa, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, Simeon Udofia Akpanudom and Haruna Olufemi.
The newly promoted Commissioners of Police include Abdulrahim Audu Shaibu, Abbas Sule, Ojugbele Adebola, Preye Raymond Egbetokun, Kayode Uthman Magaji, Adebisi Bola Lateef, Markus Ishaku Basiran, Silas Bamidele Aremu, Sylvester Onyie Uzoefuna, Magaji Ismaila, Theodore Chukwuemeka Obasi, Sarah Idowu Ehindero, Hayatu Shaffa Hassan, Mohammed Babakura, Danjuma I. Yahaya and Rebecca Uchenna Okereke.
In addition, the commission approved the promotion of 19 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to the rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), as well as 35 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) to the rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police.
Chairman of the PSC, Hashimu Salihu Argungu, congratulated the promoted officers, describing the exercise as recognition of merit, dedication and professional excellence.
Argungu urged the officers to justify their new ranks through greater commitment to effective policing and national security.
“The promotion is not an end but an opportunity to contribute more to the task of safeguarding lives and property,” he said.
He also commended members of the PSC board, including Paul Adamu Galumje, Dr. Taiwo Lakanu and the Secretary to the Commission, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, for their roles in the promotion exercise.
The commission reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening professionalism and accountability within the Nigeria Police Force through transparent promotion procedures.
