Osimhen misses out as Onuachu tops Turkish scoring charts
Trabzonspor forward Paul Onuachu and İstanbul Başakşehir striker Eldor Shomurodov have been crowned joint winners of the Turkish Süper Lig Golden Boot for the 2025/2026 season after finishing as the league’s top scorers in a closely contested race that also featured Victor Osimhen.
Onuachu enjoyed a standout campaign, finishing with 22 league goals, a tally that ultimately secured him a share of the top scorer award.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) also congratulated the striker via its official X account on Monday, praising his consistency and impact throughout the season.
“Paul Onuachu was a force to reckon with, scoring 22 goals in the Süper Lig this season,” the federation stated.
His performances proved decisive in the closing stages of the season, as he maintained his scoring rhythm to stay at the top of the charts.
Shomurodov of İstanbul Başakşehir also matched the tally with around 22 goals, ensuring both players shared the Golden Boot honour.
Fenerbahçe’s Anderson Talisca followed behind with 19 goals, while Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen, one of the league’s marquee signings, finished with 15 league goals.
Osimhen’s teammate Mauro Icardi also featured among the top scorers with 14 goals, keeping Galatasaray represented among the league’s leading attacking sides.
Despite a competitive race throughout the campaign, Onuachu ultimately pulled ahead in the final stretch to secure a share of the Golden Boot and finish as one of the league’s most prolific forwards.
