BREAKING: Wife of Adelabu’s brother, twins kidnapped in brazen daylight raid in Oyo
Gunmen on Wednesday struck in the Elewura area of Challenge, a densely populated part of Ibadan, abducting the wife of a brother to a former Power Minister, Adebayo Adelabu, alongside her twin children in a brazen daylight operation that has intensified concerns over insecurity in Oyo State.
Eyewitnesses said the victim was on her way out in the morning, reportedly taking her children to school, when armed men ambushed her along the route. The attackers were said to have forced her out of her Kia Sonata vehicle at gunpoint before escaping with her and the children in the same car.
Residents described the operation as swift, coordinated, and highly intimidating, noting that sporadic gunshots were fired into the air to disperse onlookers. The incident threw the entire Challenge axis into panic as pedestrians, traders, and motorists fled for safety.
Security response was reportedly delayed, allowing the attackers to escape before law enforcement arrived at the scene. The development has left residents deeply unsettled, coming just weeks after similar abductions were recorded in other parts of Oyo State.
As of press time, there has been no official statement confirming contact with the abductors, while families of the victims and community members continue to wait anxiously for updates.
The incident adds to a growing wave of kidnappings targeting families, commuters, and schoolchildren across the South-West, prompting renewed calls for stronger urban security measures and faster emergency response systems.
