A tricycle operator identified as IK is currently on the run after allegedly assaulting his female partner to death in Ogbogoro, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The deceased, reportedly the mother of the suspect’s two children, was said to have been discovered lifeless inside a stationary tricycle along CPM Street in the area on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

According to residents, the incident occurred at a guest house where the couple had spent the night. The suspect allegedly fled after abandoning the woman’s body and their two young children at the scene.

A resident, Mr. Senibo, said the discovery was made around 7:00 a.m. when neighbours noticed two children—both under the age of six—inside a parked tricycle alongside the motionless body of a woman.

He said operatives of the Ozuoba Police Division were immediately alerted and responded to the scene.

One of the children, believed to be about five years old, reportedly told police that her father assaulted her mother during the night using an object at the guest house.

The child further alleged that the suspect later moved the woman outside after noticing she had become weak, before abandoning her and fleeing.

The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, ASP Blessing Agabe Kaborlo, confirmed the incident, stating that investigations had commenced and efforts were underway to arrest the fleeing suspect.

She said officers found the woman’s body and two children aged about five years and six months at the scene after receiving a distress report from a passerby.

According to her, the deceased was later identified by a relative, while her remains have been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and further investigation.

She added that the children have been taken into protective custody by a family member, while police continue a manhunt for the suspect.
