Primate Ayodele warns NDC is a ‘political trap’, says party lacks future prospects
The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has described the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a political arrangement lacking genuine structure and long-term viability.
In a statement released on Tuesday through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the cleric said the party was created for a specific political mission and warned that those who have joined it in haste may eventually regret their decision.
According to him, the NDC is not a serious political platform and is unlikely to endure in Nigeria’s political space.
“NDC as a party can’t really go far; it’s a party of political errand boys. It’s not a serious political party, and people who have rushed themselves there will eventually regret it,” he said.
Primate Ayodele further described the party as a “political trap,” insisting that it lacks the structure and credibility required to survive in the country’s competitive political environment.
“The party is a political setup programmed to capture politicians… NDC won’t last long; it’s a party that has no political future. I pity those who have pitched their tents in the party,” he added.
The cleric also reiterated his earlier position that the party would struggle to make any meaningful impact in future elections, including the 2027 general polls.
“In the coming election, even if the person who owns it contests under the party, he will fail. The party will not make any tangible achievement in 2027,” he said.
However, he noted that a united opposition could still pose a challenge to the ruling party if properly coordinated.
Primate Ayodele had previously warned, shortly after the party was reportedly floated by former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson, that it would struggle to gain political relevance.
The statement adds to ongoing political commentary surrounding emerging opposition formations ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
