AIT backs WINSEC 2026 with Live Coverage, strategic media partnership

The management of the African Independent Television (AIT) has pledged comprehensive media support for the 2026 Women in Security Summit and Awards (WINSEC), including live coverage of the awards ceremony and extensive publicity ahead of the event.

The commitment was made during a courtesy visit by the National Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim, who also serves as Chairperson of the WINSEC Committee, alongside members of the WINSEC Secretariat, to the management of Daar Communications Plc in Abuja.

Receiving the delegation, the Chief Executive Officer of Daar Communications Plc, Chief Marcel Anyanyechi, lauded NAWOJ for initiating a platform dedicated to recognising the sacrifices, dedication, courage and outstanding contributions of women within Nigeria’s security sector.

He described the Women in Security Summit and Awards as a timely initiative capable of inspiring patriotism, professionalism and excellence among security personnel and other stakeholders contributing to national security.

According to Anyanyechi, addressing Nigeria’s security challenges requires collaboration among the media, security agencies, government institutions and citizens, stressing that national security remains a collective responsibility.

Speaking on behalf of the Board, Management and Staff of Daar Communications Plc, he assured the organisers of AIT’s full support towards ensuring the success of the summit.

As part of the partnership, AIT committed to providing live broadcast coverage of the awards segment, comprehensive news reporting of the summit, promotional support through its platforms, scroll message announcements ahead of the event, as well as technical assistance to enhance publicity materials and maximise audience reach.

“We will work with you, partner with you and collaborate with you to ensure that the ceremony comes out successful. Those who are making sacrifices for the peace and security of our nation deserve to be recognised and honoured,” Anyanyechi stated.

He further reaffirmed AIT’s commitment to promoting national security awareness, public enlightenment and responsible journalism, noting that initiatives such as WINSEC contribute significantly to building a safer and more inclusive society.

Earlier, Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim expressed appreciation to the management of AIT for its warm reception and support for the initiative.

She described WINSEC as a strategic platform aimed at deepening conversations around security, peacebuilding, leadership, gender inclusion and national development, while also celebrating individuals making remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s security landscape.

The Women in Security Summit and Awards (WINSEC) 2026, themed “Celebrating Courage, Passion, Loyalty, Commitment and Sacrifice of Service in Securing the Nation,” is scheduled to hold on June 30, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

The event is expected to attract key stakeholders from the security, media, governance and civil society sectors to discuss national security challenges, gender inclusion and leadership while honouring outstanding women and other champions of national development.
