Uba Sani Says APC Will Consider 25% Opposition Vote in Kaduna a Failure
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would consider its performance a failure if any opposition candidate secures 25 per cent of the votes in the state during the 2027 general elections.
Sani made the statement during an interview with TVC on Sunday, expressing confidence that Kaduna voters would give President Bola Tinubu a strong electoral mandate in the next presidential election.
“In Kaduna, we are not talking about 70 per cent. Allowing any candidate to even get 25 per cent in Kaduna is a failure on our side because President Tinubu has done for Kaduna something we never dreamt of having,” the governor said.
He attributed his confidence to federal government projects and interventions in Kaduna State over the past three and a half years, arguing that the administration’s performance should earn Tinubu widespread support from residents at the polls.
The governor also criticised opposition parties, accusing them of concentrating on social media attacks against the APC rather than engaging voters directly through campaign rallies, town hall meetings and other grassroots activities.
Sani specifically mentioned the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), saying he had observed the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) reaching out to voters through town hall meetings.
“If you are campaigning to win elections, you have to go out and meet with the people,” he said.
“The only party that I see reaching out through town hall meetings, other than our party, is probably APM. I’m surprised. I have seen them going round. But you cannot say the same with ADC and NDC.”
The governor further accused opposition parties of using artificial intelligence and manipulated images to attack the ruling party on social media, insisting that political campaigns should focus more on direct engagement with the electorate.
“We are the only party that is reaching out, talking to the people. So, whether the opposition decides to come together or not, it’s not our business,” he said.
Sani’s remarks come as political parties and their supporters intensify preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections, with competition expected to increase over voter support across the country.
However, the governor’s projection remains a political expectation, with the eventual outcome dependent on voters’ decisions at the ballot box.
