Jude Okoye released from Ikoyi Prison after meeting bail conditions in N1.38bn Money Laundering case
Jude Okoye, the former manager of Psquare and elder brother to popular music duo Peter and Paul Okoye, has regained his freedom from Ikoyi prison after fulfilling his bail terms in the ongoing N1.38 billion money laundering trial.
Jude and his company, Northside Music Limited, are currently facing a seven-count charge before Justice A. Owoeye at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, bordering on allegations of laundering N1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59.
He had pleaded not guilty during his initial arraignment on February 26, 2025, and was subsequently granted bail set at N100 million.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) later filed an additional four-count charge on March 3, accusing Jude of diverting music royalties belonging to his brothers.
The anti-graft agency alleged that he fraudulently converted sums including $767,544.15, £34,537.59, $133,566.49, and $118,652.20 for personal use, thereby denying Peter Okoye his rightful earnings.
For these new charges, the court granted Jude a fresh bail of N50 million, which he had initially struggled to meet, leading to his prolonged stay in custody.
However, on Wednesday evening, Paul Okoye announced via Instagram that his elder brother had finally regained his freedom.
He posted videos capturing the emotional moment Jude walked out of prison and reunited with his family after over two months in detention.
“Jude is finally out after 2 months + all their efforts to frustrate his bail has finally collapsed. Welcome home brother @judeengees. And happy birthday,” Paul wrote.
Meanwhile, during a recent court proceeding, Peter Okoye opened up about his troubled business relationship with Jude, recounting past issues tied to the management of their joint music enterprise.
